India Thrashed and Bow Out of the World Cup

Indian Cricket team thrashed out of the T20 World Cup going on in Australia. This has been the headline of numerous newspapers, after a rather abysmal performance by the Indian cricket team, or should we say inferior cricket team, because the performance was only suitable for that name.

All of the Indian cricket fans waited with bated breath for Rohit and his boys to put up a show in Adelaide, and meet arch rivals Pakistan for a cracker-jack of a clash in Melbourne to be crowned champions.

After the first semi-final, where the Pakistanis, literally decimated the Kiwis, making a rather surprise entry into the final considering their current form.

But, most of the cricket pandits gave India a better chance against England, in a ground, which pretty much resembles to a ground in the subcontinent. It will not be fair to say that, this blog is about discussing that what went wrong, as every other thing was wrong for the Blue brigade.

Too Much of Sticking Around with Ashwin

We were quite accustomed to listen to the chant, ‘’well bowled Ash’’ but most of them were only in the subcontinent and in the 5-day format, where the wickets started turning square right from the first day, and Ashwin gobbled up the opposition batters like, he was playing in his own backyard.

Of late, as far as the limited over formats are concerned, Ashwin has been always seeming misfit in the equation. Chahal is our premier spinner in limited overs format for quite a while now, and he was not given a chance to play even a single game in this world cup.

If having an experienced campaigner was on the minds of the team management, then Chahal was no less experienced in the limited format. The wicket of Adelaide was offering assistance to the leggies, but owing to the poor team selection or misreading of the pitch, India did not have the services of any up their sleeve.

R&R involved in Form War

The R&R combination was just opposite to the deadly combination in the blockbuster RRR. They both didn’t fail to prove that they can only roar against the minnow like Netherlands and Zimbabwe.

They both underplayed in the big matches including the semi-final. It was tough to understand why Rahul was given chance after chance, despite not having any price tag on the wicket.

Now, the other partner in crime Rohit Sharma was not far behind in displaying how not to play cricket against the big teams. Everyone in the international circuit is aware of the fact that, firstly, Rohit is a compulsive puller, and secondly, he can be very easily bogged by dot balls.

And, these two were the major reasons for a rather un-Rohit like performance in the world Cup. On top of that, he also failed to repeat the heroics as a captain, that we are so used to seeing in the IPL.

Reckless Bowling

There was not even a single over in the English innings that was without a boundary. Before the World Cup started, there was a lot of talk about the poor form of the Indian of the Indian bowlers. But, as the World Cup started, everyone thought that the bowling attack can do something special.

We have to admit that the bowling was decent, if not very good in the league games. But it seems that the Indian team is getting a new tag for themselves of chokers, which for long has been associated to South Africa, including this World Cup.

It will not be wrong to say that instead of saving the best for the last, Indian bowlers saved the worst for the last.

It is not that, there are only negatives and negatives, there was also a big positive in the dismal defeat. Now, what is that? Well, it is the fact that it was a semi-final, and the opposition was England. Just think, what if India had choked so badly in the final against Pakistan. So, at least, the team and the players are both saved from that embarrassment.

Now, fingers crossed, and every Indian wants the English to come on top in Melbourne.
